Current Event in Nigeria

Current Event

On Thursday morning in Kano, Nigeria authorities are saying that two police officers have been killed and two others wounded in an attack in a northern Nigeria city. The police said that a group of men came and shot a the officers who were on foot patrolling a street. There has been at least 185 people that have died because of shootings in Kano in the last month in a coordinated assault by the radical Islamist sect known as Boko Haram. Boko Haram is waging of an increasingly intense and dangerous campaign against Nigeria’s weak central government across its north. This has caused violence to begin in Nigeria and they need more police officers to help defend their country.

The Promise and the Struggle

In the slave days there was alot of things that happened and there has been a declaration created, laws have been passed, and things really started to change in the United States. The slaves were traded for alot of different recources such as food, crops, etc. and it was a very sad thing how they were treated. These african american people were truthfully treated like animals. The african american men just didn’t feel like they were as equal as all the white men and they just took away all their natural rights.  When the slaves were freed by the 13th amendment sharecropping was comparable to slavery because the freed slaves weren’t able to own land and worked in close to the same conditions. One thing that was  a big deal about the slave rights was if you were a wealthy person you sent your child off to a nic school or you sent them to the local school were the children that had money went. If your parents were slaves or did not make alot of money you did not go to a nice school and you had bad books, not very good teachers, and bad facilties.  This was a sad thing because not all people can make alot of moeny and have a good job and the children should all get the same education or atleast the governemnt should of come up with a plan to help the less fortunate kids. It was a good thing that the United States government created the Anti-Slavery Act because it helped out the slaves, children, and the United States.

Civil Disobediance

In this assignment, we had to talk about Civil Disobediance. We were all given a question to do and we  had to create a powerpoint about it. In my question I had to find give three examples of Civil Disobediance in the document and then describe what it’s meaning was.

Not a Merry Christmas

Former Panamanian dictator, Manuel Noriega may be back home in Panama this Christmas after his extradition from France.  His lawyer claims Noriega is suffering from failing health.  The ex-dictator who was overthrown in 1989 has had health issues for several years.  The current Panamanian president, President Ricardo Martinelli said this week in the United Kingdom that if Noriega returns to Panama, he will “go to jail.”   Noriega spent 21 years in a Miami prison on drug charges after he was overthrown.  He has spent the last six years in a French prison for money laundering involving the drug cartel.  Panama sought his extradition from France so that he could serve three 20 year sentences for the murder of three of his political opponents.  Noriega has been fighting for over 20 years to return to his home, Panama.  But, he has been fought the entire way by the US, France and enemies in his own country.  The French courts will decide next week if he will be extradited back to Panama.

I believe that Noriega should remain in prison because he has lived a crime-filled life including murder.  I think that he is using his health as an excuse to come back home and not have to go back to prison.  I hope that President Martinelli will be able to force him to stay incarcerated even if he returns to Panama.

Alternative History of Indian Act

Douglas Munson

Government

In the 1830’s Indians were not real liked by all of the American citizens. The Indians felt like they were being mistreated so it became into a big deal so the U.S. had to come up with a solution so the Indians had land to live on and so everyone would be happy. The U.S. came up with an act called The Indian Removal Act which gave the Native Americans land to live on and it ma de a lot of the Americans angry. The United States government could have just given them almost like a whole part of one of the states to them where they could have all lived there and started their own community and let them have their own government and laws.

Our world now accepts Native Americans in our country and as far as I know we get along with them just fine. If the Indian Removal Act hadn’t of existed our world could be totally different for example when we would see a Native American they might try to hurt us from the hatred they have for us.  We would maybe not be as much into the agriculture business as much as we are today because the Indians brought that part of our culture into the United States. If I had to come up with a law that could make peace between us and the Indians I would give a part of the U.S. for all the Indians to live in where they could all be happy and have their own community but they would have to follow a lot of the United States laws.

If the United States had of followed this law it would be a lot different because we might not be able to go into the Indian Territory because it could be very dangerous because of the hatred between the U.S. citizens and the Native Americans. Now, the laws that were made were well made an it didn’t create too much violence or hatred between the United States and Native Americans and we are allies with them now.

TV sportscaster wins $2 million lottery

In Vancouver on a Global TV broadcast they were drawing for the Children’s hospitable grand lottery prize and they were live on the air. When the actor drew the name it happened to be the sports reporter on the show. The sports reporter was shocked when he heard his name, his long-time colleague Sophie Lui asked the Global weather broadcaster how it was spelled. The sports reporter name is Barry Deley and he was on the set in the background and it is said he was stunned.  Some people are thinking this is a little fishy since Deley won and he works on the show that was involved with the lottery prize money.

I think it is a little fishy how the guy won and he was on the show. I think they will probably look into the story a little bit more just to make sure everything is right and he man won the money fair and square. It was awesome though how the guy won when they were live on the radio because his reaction had to of been crazy if he won without having any deals going on and being surprised.
